- Following the strong close in US the previous day, markets were globally positive and the Indian Indices also had a strong sentiment. Opening gap up the indices gained traction for some time, only to face resistance at highs. While there was not a a heavy selling form there, they did cool off a bit,
- Both #Nifty and #BankNifty made bullish candles, though with a reasonable upper shadow indicating resistance at the highs.
- Levels
- The gap up yesterday has left an opportunity for this to be filled and hence the first supports are a bit deeper. The risk reward for fresh longs from this level is a bit unfavorable. Markets though continue to be strong till they are holding the support levels mentioned above. So a dip till these levels would be healthy for our indices.
- Since I see a decent opportunity of this gap fill and the global cues today could be somber, markets may consolidate in this range. I would recommend to wait for dip to the first support levels and then trying to enter. Aggressive traders may take make their own calls, based on risk reward profiles they respect.
- #Nifty and #BankNIfty both look strong. #Nifty is driven from #NiftyAuto, #NiftyFMCG, #NiftyPharma and #Metals. #Reliance still hasn't participated in the rally. #NiftyIT is yet to pick any reasonable strength.
- #FII yesterday bought for 1000Cr plus and #DII bought for some 36Cr. The #FII also closed a huge number of shorts on Index futures. The recent rush has partly been funded by the Short covering driven by a lack of follow through on the shorts and some strong participation from from the retail side. Some rebalancing activities have also been a reason.
- While the shorts are not getting a follow through, The above two reasons somehow cast shadows on the follow through of the longs. Keeping the markets in a range. Wait for a breakout from this range, before taking large bets. Till then play inside with a decent hedging.
- The options OI indicate a strong support at 17600 and building up at 17800 for #Nifty, while 40000 and 41000 are the support levels for #BankNifty. These levels sync with the support levels mentioned above from the chart as well. Call writing has been a bit far on #Nifty, while #BankNifty call writing has been closer.
- #DollarIndex has picked some more strength and is now closer to 110, the 10Y yields in US continue to rise an are now at 3.56. #Oil is at 90.5. Commodity prices globally have eased. The strength in Dollar will keep pressure on global Indices.
